Welcome to Friends of Udon Foundation

"We believe in a better way"

The Friends of Udon Foundation is currently undergoing a financial re-organisation, for this reason we are unfortunately unable to provide any services to the disabled people of Udon Thani.  We hope to be operating again as normal in the near future.  Thank you to everyone involved with the Foundation for your continued support.

A day at the zoo, Sunday, 2/10/11. We had a very enjoyable day at the Khao Suan Kwang Zoo, (just North of Khon Kaen). A drizzling rain kept the temperature very comfortable all day. The children were very fascinated by all of the wild animals. We then all sat down to a very nice lunch in one of several restaurants at the park. By late afternoon everyone was getting tired so we called it a day, and went back to the foundation

.

Our latest venture... We took the troups on a day at the lake to relax and do some fishing. I guess the fish weren't hungry because the only one that was caught was caught with a net. All in all a great day and allot of great food and fun!

Our visit to Kuna Gon School on July 7, 2011 was a very worthwhile experience for all.The turnout was tremendous, with both staff and students showing great interest in our program. Donations were in abundance and very much appreciated by the foundation. It was a pleasure talking to the friendly staff and children of the school.

Our meeting with the staff and students at Khon Kaen University physiotherapy training center on Thursday 30 June 2011, was a very worth while venture. The students were very attentative as were the proffesors. The proffesors expressed their intrest in our facility, and showed great interest in having students take part in our program. The students will receive "on the job" training that will prove to be invaluable to their future careers.

We here at the Friends of Udon Foundation are looking forward to working with these young enthusiastic students. They will then feel the joy of helping some of the less fortunate children in the world.

On the 23rd of June we visited Udon Pitaya Nugun school and it had to be one of our biggest turn-outs ever! Both children and parents alike were keen to find out more about the foundation and the work we do. Some of our resident musicians were on hand to entertain the crowd and a great deal of fun was had by all.

udon-pitudon-pit1 We would like to express our sincerest thanks to everyone at Udon Pitaya Nugun for allowing us to share our message with your students and hopefully they will now have a better understanding of the plight of the disabled.

On June 28th Friends of Udon visited Ratchathani University, one of Udon Thani's excellent training facilities for careers in the field of health care.

We gave a short presentation to some one hundred 1st year trainee nurses on current therapy practises and we discussed how rewarding a career specializing in the care of the disabled can be. All the young people seemed very interested in our methods and many were keen to visit our facility to experience for themselves what a difference it is possible to make in the lives of disabled people..

Our goal as always, was to encourage our philosophy of " stimulate, not medicate" which hopefully many of these young people will carry with them throughout their careers.

Thank you Ratchathani University for allowing us to present our techniques to your pupils and we hope to see some of you soon.

On the 14th of June Paramin primary school invited the foundation to vist for the day. We set up our infomation booth in the grounds and had many eager young visitors who were more than interested in what we were doing. After a very productive day at the school the staff and parents of Paramin suprised with not only a donation of food, supplies and cash but also some new mobility equipment for the children.
